US-led soldier killed in southern Afghanistan

A US-led soldier has been killed in southern Afghanistan as the foreign troops are experiencing their most deadly days in the war-torn country.

According to the US-led Western military alliance, the trooper died in a militant attack on Saturday. However, there was no report of the exact location of the incident.
No group or individual has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
On Friday, at least three people were reportedly killed and dozens of others, including US soldiers, injured in a bomb attack in eastern Afghanistan.
US-led troops are the target of Taliban attacks on an almost daily basis.
According to the website icasualties.org, over 383 foreign troops, mostly US personnel, have lost their lives in Afghanistan in 2012.
The United States and its allies invaded Afghanistan in 2001 as part of Washington’s so-called war on terror. The offensive removed the Taliban from power, but insecurity remains across the country.
