US man beats to death great-grandparents, rapes infant granddaughter

A US man that beat to death an elderly couple and sexually assaulted their 2-year-old great-granddaughter in the Anchorage capital of State of Alaska has come under arrest by local police.

Anchorage law enforcement authorities announced Sunday that they detained the 24-year-old suspect that fled the scene Saturday night after raping the 73-year-old great-grandmother, then beating her and her 71-year-old husband to death and sexually assaulting the toddler that they were babysitting.

The parents of the toddler discovered the dead bodies of their grandparents when they returned home from a movie theatre with their 4-year-old son and then found the suspect naked in a bedroom with their infant daughter.

The shocked couple reportedly tried to detain the intruder but he managed to escape the scene.

Authorities said they arrested the suspect, identified as Jerry Andrew Active, Saturday night and jailed him without bail at Anchorage jail on charges of first and second-degree murder, sexual assault and burglary in the deaths of Sorn Sreap and his wife, Touch Chea.

According to police, both Sreap and Chea had suffered “significant blunt force object injuries” and that Chea had been raped.

Meanwhile, police department spokeswoman Anita Shell emphasized that law-enforcement investigators on the crime scene were greatly affected by the brutality of the crime and the ages of the victims.

“They said this was the worst thing they had ever seen in their lives, and these are seasoned detectives,” Shell said.

Police further elaborated that the toddler was found with “sexual assault injuries” and was taken to an Anchorage hospital and underwent surgery.
