An Iranian lawmaker says the US is not honest about its offer of direct talks to Iran as Washington should first apologize to the Iranian nation for its past conspiracies.

According to Press TV, Mansour Haqiqatpour, the deputy head of Iran Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said on Saturday: “We see no honesty in the Americans behavior: they propose negotiations on one hand, but are after increasing the sanctions in Congress, on the other.”
Haqiqatpour added that the Iranian nation has long suffered the repercussions of US schemes and interventions both before and after the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
He blamed the United States for inflicting great harm on Iran by pursuing a colonial approach toward the energy-rich nation since the World War II.
The lawmaker also denounced Washington’s persistent attempts to mount pressure on the Islamic Republic through sanctions and economic restrictions.
Haqiqatpour stated: “Americans must show honesty and say they are regretful for their past acts, so that the Islamic Republic of Iran can decide whether to negotiate with them.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast on Friday ruled out direct talks between Tehran and Washington in the absence of a real change of policy on the part of the United States.
