A senior Iranian diplomat says a dialog in Yemen is the only way out of the deadly crisis in the war-ravaged Arab country.

The escalation of war coupled with military measures adopted by certain countries in Yemen would not only fail to help resolve the Yemeni conflict, but would also further complicate the trend of resolving the crisis, said Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in a phone conversation with the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmed on Thursday.

The senior Iranian diplomat lashed out at the international community for turning a blind eye to the massacre of the Yemeni civilians, especially women and children, stating that such killings run counter to international regulations on human rights, and thus, the perpetrators must accept the responsibility for their brutal actions.

Amir-Abdollahian also stressed the constructive role of the United Nations in finding a political solution to the Yemeni crisis.

The UN official, for his part, reiterated calls for a political agreement between all Yemeni parties and the establishment of a ceasefire in the impoverished Arab state.
