US Police Suppress Protesters in Cincinnati

Cincinnati police arrested 11 protesters early Sunday for exercising their right of protest.

Cincinnati Police Captain Doug Wiesman said his forces arrested protesters because they remained in Fountain Square after the 3 a.m. closing time.

He said they were “straightforward arrests; no problems.” Each was charged with criminal trespass and taken to jail at Hamilton County Justice Center.

The protesters are part of the Occupy Wall Street movement against corporate greed that has been spreading around the country.

Sunday’s action came after 23 protesters camping after closing hours at nearby Piatt Park were arrested last week.

Hundreds of people have been arrested by the American police since Occupy Wall Street protests started in New York and over 100 cities across the US over a month ago.

The anti-capitalism protesters are angry at the US administration’s domestic, foreign and financial policies and discriminatory approach towards the 99% average and below-average class of the society, saying that the 1% rich are looting the rest of the population.
