US seeking monopoly on ME: religious cleric

Addressing a meeting in Qaemshahr, Hujjat al-Islam Ali Moallemi, the member of the Assembly of Experts, referred to the extension of the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) by both the United States’ Senate and House of Representatives for another ten years, saying these actions represent the culmination of the maliciousness and lies of the US government against the Iranian nation.

The Friday prayer of Qaemshahr said, “in opposition to international treaties, the Americans approved new sanctions against Iran and added that according to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the US has no right to impose new sanctions on Iran.”

“Unfortunately, Americans do not heed any international treaties and these new sanctions are the result of false optimism in the US among Iranians,” he added.

Hujjat al-Islam Moallemi pointed out that Americans have never been and are not reliable.

He went on to add, “from the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, the Americans have been plotting against Iran’s Islamic system and the Revolution and until today, they have spared no effort to overthrow the system.”

“The Americans think that they can regain their authority in the region by infiltrating and destabilising the Islamic Republic of Iran and every day, they impose flimsy excuses to pressure the nation,” he said.

Hujjat al-Islam Moallemi stressed that the Americans would never retreat from their arrogant stance against sovereign nations, especially Iran and added, “This ruthless and arrogant government believes that its survival is through the oppression of other nations.”

His Eminence stated, “the nuclear issue is only a pretext for influencing Iran and said that after the exposing and neutralizing of their project to influence Iran by the Supreme Leader, the American authorities extended their sanctions against the Iranian nation for another ten years.”

Hujjat al-Islam Moallemi pointed out that the Supreme Leader foiled the Americans’ plots after the JCPOA through his vigilance and discernment and said, “If it wasn’t for Ayatollah Khamenei’s enlightenment and awareness, especially in regard to the JCPOA, today, the US would have infiltrated the most important centres of our country.”
