Head of Iran’s Strategic Research Center Ali Akbar Velayati said the Americans and their regional supporters want to break down powerful and historic regional countries for Israel’s security and in line with their own interests and avarice.

Velayati who also serves as the Secretary-General of the Global Assembly of Islamic Awakening met with Chief of Executive body of Political Bureau of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) Hikmat Muhamad Karim known as Mala Bakhtiar and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday.

The two sides discussed and exchanged views on regional developments and Iran-Iraq relations.

Pointing to relations between Iran and Iraq, Velayati said cultural, historical and religious commonalities between the two countries has led to the development of cooperation.

Pointing to the resistance of the Iraqi government and people, Velayati added the enemies of Islam in the region wage proxy wars, Takfiri and extremist groups and terrorists make crimes against the innocent people of the region, including Iraq and Syria, in the name of Islam and the plotters and some reactionary countries of the region are seeking to divide the Islamic Ummah.

“And of course victory and pride is undoubtedly for the people of the region and the Islamic Republic of Iran wants only the happiness and success for Iraqi nation and government,” he underlined.

Mala Bakhtiar, for his part, expressed pleasure for meeting with Velayati calling him a well-known character in the world.

Referring to the regional developments, he said the time of colonialism and tyranny is over and conspirators cannot achieve their divisive goals in the region.

“We thank the Islamic Republic of Iran and welcome its principled positions; Iran is in the path of progress and security and takes effective measures for the peace and stability in the region,” he added.
