Imam shrine ready for major Friday prayer

Leader of the Islamic Ummah and Opressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei is to lead this week’s Friday prayers, on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the demise of the late Imam Khomeini.

That was according to Chief of Tehran Friday Prayers Headquarters, Sayyed Yadollah Shirmardi, who also said the prayers will be held at Imam Khomeini’s shrine, in southern Tehran.

He added coordination and preparations have been done in the late imam’s mausoleum to host over two million pilgrims.

Shirmardi went on to say that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Sayyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the late Imam Khomeini, will address worshipers before the prayers.

He said over 760,000 people from different parts of the country are set to attend the Friday prayers and ceremonies marking the occasion.
