US turning blind eye to real perpetrators of terror acts: Iran’s Spokesman

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned the recent US Supreme Court’s decision to revive parts of President Donald Trump’s travel ban, saying that Washington is turning a blind eye to the real perpetrators of terrorist attacks on US soil.

(tasnim) — In comments on Wednesday, Bahram Qassemi said, “It is regrettable that the US administration is brazenly closing its eyes to the true perpetrators of the terrorist acts in the US and (instead) gives the world wrong address in pursuit of its business goals”.

He added the decision by the court is against US human rights claims and shows Washington’s “racist” and “unfair” approach towards Muslims.

On Monday, America’s highest court said a 90-day ban on visitors from six the Muslim-majority countries of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen, along with a 120-day ban on all refugees, could be enforced against those who lack a “credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States.”

Qassemi further said that the Islamic Republic will thoroughly look into the court ruling and take appropriate reciprocal measures accordingly.

He continued that although the majority of Muslims in the US, including the Iranians, are peaceful, respectful of the law, and against extremism and violence, the US statesmen treat them with “pessimism, insult and humiliation.”

On Tuesday Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also criticized the ruling as a “misplaced and misguided policy” and a “regrettable” decision, adding it “would be the greatest gift to extremist groups who would use it as a rallying cry to attract new followers.”
