The Unites States “ignores” the West’s impact in creating an “unnecessary” crisis in Syria, where Takfiri violence remains at its peak, says a former American intelligence linguist.

“What’s really unfortunate is that the American media, the American politicians and the intelligence community ignored the major hands the West has had in creating this crisis and perpetuating this unnecessary conflict,” Scott Rickard told Press TV on Monday.
“The other point is that Russia has been very forthright in offering to be cooperative with the United States in the destruction of ISIL.”

US Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, earlier discussed the crisis on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly in New York.

“I think we have concerns about how we are going to go forward,” Kerry told reporters.

However, Rickard argued, “the Americans have been caught red-handed alongside their allies acting in a very illegitimate way and yet they continue to portray [Syrian President] Bashar al-Assad as the instigator and as the creator of this crisis.”

The ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, control large parts of Syria’s northern territory. ISIL sent its fighters into Iraq later, quickly seizing large swaths of land straddling the border between the two countries.

Apart from that, the US and some of its allies have been conducting airstrikes allegedly against the Daesh Takfiris in Iraq and Syria but apparently to no avail.
