US will rue adventurism against Iran

Seyyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, spokesman for Iran’s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said on Friday that the United States is well aware of the defensive and military capabilities of the Islamic Republic.

They (Americans) know that the Iranian nation will stand unified against any aggression, the Iranian lawmaker added.

Naqavi Hosseini said Iran will give a firm response to any adventurism by the United States.

The Iranian lawmaker also commented on remarks by former head of the CIA spy agency, David Petraeus.

Speaking at the Institute for National Security Studies’ (INSS) annual conference in Israel on January 28, Petraeus said, “[US President Barack] Obama will not hesitate to use force if he has proof that Iran is advancing, despite the agreements, toward a nuclear weapon, and that there is no other possibility to prevent it from doing so.”

Naqavi Hosseini said the threats against Iran come under mounting pressure from the Zionists.

Petraeus was not alone in making threatening remarks regarding Iran.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Thursday that if Iran resumes uranium enrichment beyond the five-percent level, “then the military option that is available to the United States is ready and prepared to do what it would have to do.”

Similarly, President Obama in his State of the Union address on January 28 claimed that the anti-Iran sanctions brought Tehran to the negotiating table with the six world powers – the US, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany.
