Velayati: Support for Pakistan Iran’s Strategic Policy

A1127455The Leader of Islamic Ummah and Oppressed People Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei’s Advisor for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati hailed the good and brotherly relations between Tehran and Islamabad, and said Iran continues support for Pakistan as a strategic policy.

After a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Nayyar Hussain Bukhari in Islamabad on Wednesday, Velayati said that the Islamic Republic has always supported Pakistan, and stressed that Iran will continue supporting Islamabad, which he described as a strategic policy of the country.

Heading a high-ranking political delegation, Velayati arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for a three-day visit.

“We hope that… more grounds will be provided for the unity of the Islamic Ummah as the power of the Islamic world in the future depends on unity of the Islamic Ummah,” he said after a meeting with Bukhari.

Velayati also said that he discussed different aspects of relations between Tehran and Islamabad in his meetings with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Bukhari.

He said that among the topics of the meetings with the two Pakistani officials was economic cooperation in the fields of electricity, gas, agriculture, industries and culture.

Velayati said that Zardari stressed the expansion of bilateral ties between Iran and Pakistan and Bukhari also expressed satisfaction with the current trend of cooperation between the two countries.

Iran and Pakistan have always had very close and intimate relations throughout the history.

The two countries exchange delegations on a regular basis and their leaders are resolved to further accelerate expansion of ties and cooperation between the two neighboring nations.
