Venezuela, Nicaragua warn of military action on Syria

20130831-111247_hVenezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, warned his French counterpart, Francois Hollande, of the dangers of a military action against Syria, stressing that such an act would infect Europe with terrorism.

AFP quoted Maduro as saying in Suriname on the sidelines of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) Summit, “if the Syrian leadership was changed, the terrorist groups would come to power and then terrorism would infect Europe.”

UNASUR condemned foreign intervention in Syria, calling in a statement for a peaceful solution to the crisis in it.

Nicaragua criticizes U.S. Threats of military Action on Syria

Vice President of Nicaragua, Omar Halleslevens, criticized the U.S threats of launching a military action on Syria.

The Chinese news agency Xinhua quoted Halleslevens as saying “states that threaten of using force are not in a position to become world judges.

He added that the world does not need more wars because they lead to complicating social problems and increasing death toll, pointing out that crises should not be solved through military actions.

Halleslevens stressed that crises should be solved through dialogue and political solutions.
