Video- ECO, MERCOSUR eye broader cooperation

Emphasizing the exchange of resources, technology, and knowledge; the emerging powers within developing countries and the insight that their nations have gained in recent years indicates a transition into a new international system. What Iran calls a new world order demanding stronger ties between the economic cooperation organization and Latin American countries of Mercosur as south-south cooperation receives a boost.

During the trip we took to Latin America we realized that here are great potentials that both regions can benefit from while such cooperation can help promote South-South trade and collaboration. We really don’t need world powers to back us in order to develop our countries. Countries in both regions have mastered the latest technology.

The Economic Cooperation Organization is has long term plans to strengthen its relations with other international organization by 2015. Looking forward to cooperation with MERCOSUR Secretary General of the ECO says it’s about time:

The ten South-central Asian member states of the 26 year old Economic Cooperation Organization together with the 4 Latin American countries that signed the MERCOSUR agreement in 1991 hold one-fifth of the worlds oil and one-fourth of the world’s natural gas reserves. These countries together generate 7 percent of the global GDP and have a 300-million-strong workforce … Brazil alone is the world’s fifth largest economy.

The gathering of the ambassadors of ECO and MERCOSUR member states in Iran’s foreign ministry on Sunday is the first step.

Iran says that relying on their huge potentials the two regions can pave the way for a fair and just international system which their nations can benefit from.
