Video- Palestinians celebrate release of prisoners

Hundreds of Palestinians, mostly family members of freed prisoners, gathered in front of the Ofer military prison to welcome Palestinian prisoners freed in the first phase of a prisoner swap deal, in which 477 Palestinians were released in exchange for zionist israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

Flags of all the resistance movements in the West bank were waved in front of the Ofer prison, as the participants sang songs of national unity. The prisoners were taken to al-Muqata’a, where they were received and welcomed by acting PA Chief Mahmoud Abbas, along with Hasan Yousef, a leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas.

Families of the freed prisoners celebrated the release of their loved ones in front of the Ofer prison, in the Muqata’a, and Qalandia checkpoint.

During the celebrations, the freed prisoners stressed the crucial role of the resistance in their release, and said they will not rest until all Palestinian prisoners are released from the zionist israeli jails.

Meanwhile, a group of Palestinian prisoners in zionist israeli Jails have ended their third week of hunger strike to protest the harsh treatments in zionist israeli jails, most notably, the policy of solitary confinement.

Hundreds of freed prisoners are now celebrating with their families, some for the first time in decades. But one thing on the lips and minds of every freed prisoner here today is the freedom of the remaining Palestinians in zionist israeli jails.
