Video- Tehran hosts Festival of Kites Prior to World Children’s Day

A day these children will never forget; an occasion when they can sing and cheer without having to worry about disturbing others and ofcourse, fly kites.
More than 1500 children gathered around Tehran’s Milad Tower to celebrate the festival of kites prior to the world children’s day. The event was held by the sports and recreation organization of Tehran’s municipality.
For some children trying to fly a kite is a new experience. In an age of computer games and television, traditional recreational activities such as flying kites have already faded away. Today the density of buildings and the growing number of motor vehicles running up and down streets and alleys have caused the number of kite fans to decline more than ever. However there are still certain places in Tehran where kite lovers hang out such as the hills surrounding the Milad Tower.

And citizens say they will welcome such a program while wishing the return of these paper butterflies to their city once again.

For the parents it was an opportunity to experience flying kites after a long time. Perhaps it was a reminder of the good old days when a kite was something more than a simple toy; it was something to dream about.
The Milad tower authority says that it plans to attract more visitors through launching such event more frequently.
