West plots due to Syria position in ME

An Islamic Revolution Guards Corpse Commander says the enemy’s problem with Syria is because they know the Resistance Front owes its regional might to Damascus.

“The real problem with Syria in the view of the West and the Zionists and reactionaries is not the rule of the Alawite minority or lack of democracy [in the Arab state],” Quds Force commander Major General Qasem Soleimani said Saturday

“It is [because] they know that the powerful position of resistance in the region is indebted to the Syrian government,” Soleimani said.

“The continuous victories of the Syrian army over the last year are the reason for the recent all-out attack against Syria,” Soleimani stated.

The rhetoric of war against Syria first gained momentum on August 21, when the militants operating inside the country and the foreign-backed Syrian opposition claimed that over a thousand people had been killed in a government chemical attack on militant strongholds on the outskirts of Damascus.

The Syrian government categorically rejects the allegation and says the militants carried out the attack to draw in military intervention.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since March 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies — especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey — are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
