West Puppets try to create a chaos in Lebanon’s Tripoli

Fresh clashes have broken out between supporters and opponents of the Syrian government in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli, Press TV reports.

Gunshots can be heard throughout the city, while reports say a school has also been set ablaze.

Earlier clashes in the city left at least two people dead and a dozen others injured. The violence flared Monday night when gunmen fired a number of rocket-propelled grenades. Fighting continued on Tuesday in Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen neighborhoods of the port city, situated 85 kilometers (52 miles) north of the capital Beirut.

The security situation in Tripoli remains fragile following recent clashes that have led to a number of deaths and injuries.

The army units are still tracking down the gunmen and have managed to seize machine guns, hand grenades, ammunition and military equipment.

Although the violence in Tripoli is linked to the current unrest in Syria, some people in the city blame the Lebanese government for the continuation of the fighting.

Tripoli has been the scene of clashes between the two groups over the past months. Several people have been killed and injured in the clashes and the fighting has forced residents to leave the volatile neighborhoods.

There has been growing concern over the spillover of violence into neighboring countries since the unrest in Syria began last year.

Syria has been experiencing a deadly unrest since March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the turmoil.

The Syrian government blames the chaos on elements directed and funded from outside the country, citing reports that a very large number of the militants operating in the country are foreign nationals.
