West to blame for rights violations

Iran’s deputy judiciary chief has hit out at the West for capitalizing on the issue of human rights to achieve its political aims.

“Today, the issue of human rights is used as a political lever against independent and third-world nations”, Ebrahim Raisi told reporters on Sunday.

“The major violators of human rights are Western states. If the true face of Western countries which claim to be custodians of human rights is shown, you will see that people’s rights are violated most severely in Europe, the US and Israel”, the top official added.

Raisi underscored Western media have been banned from covering security crackdowns on protesters in the West.

He then touched upon the situation of human rights in Iran.

He said Iran has committed itself to protecting people’s rights as it firmly believes in religious and Islamic principles.

The deputy judiciary chief pinpointed that Western countries are the prime suspects given their repeated violations of human rights.
