Western supporters of Israel, partners in crime: Iran

Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili says governments supporting Israel must be held accountable for crimes Tel Aviv has committed in Gaza Strip.

In a meeting with Syrian Deputy Premier Qadri Jamil and Minister of State for National Reconciliation Affairs Ali Haidar on Saturday, Jalili strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Gaza.

The Iranian official said Western countries that support Israel must be held accountable for the blood of Palestinian women and children shed in Gaza.

The Iranian official added that the silence of the US and other Western countries in the face of such crimes contradicts their claims regarding promotion of democracy in the region.

“The US that has strategic relations with the Zionist Regime [of Israel], is the regime’s partner in crime and cannot advocate democracy in the region,” Jalili said.

The new wave of Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip has claimed at least 43 lives since November 14.

In retaliation for the airstrikes, Palestinian resistance fighters have fired over a dozen rockets from Gaza into the Israeli cities of Ofakim, Ashdod, and the areas of Eshkol, Bnei Shimon, Sha’ar Hanegev and Hof Ashkelon.

Jalili described the resistance front as the key to unity of the region and the Muslim world against Israel, adding that the Syrian government and nation are paying the price of supporting the resistance in Palestine.

He also stated that the upcoming meeting between the Syrian government and opposition in Tehran would be a turning point in Syria’s developments and a step towards establishing stability and security for the people of this country.

The Iranian official added that the Islamic Republic considers national dialogue and moving towards democracy the only solution to Syria crisis.
