Winter storm returns to Washington DC, causing travel delays

In the United States, the winter storm has threatened a return as a mix of light rain and light snow was in the forecast Sunday night in Washington D.C. and the mix is expected to change into snow on Monday.

Some parts of the Washington region are expected to receive several inches of snow.

The snow will develop overnight as the temperatures drop and will continue to fall mainly until 8 a.m. Monday and the chance of precipitation is 80%, according to according to the National Weather Service.

NWS has issued a winter storm warning for the region from Sunday night until 2 p.m. Monday.

Brian Jackson of the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang said that after Saturday’s taste of spring it hard to believe that another storm is on the way.

“But really, it seems just about right the way this winter has gone. A few inches are possible by Monday morning, most likely complicating the commute, giving some kids reason to cheer, and some adults reason to curse!”he said.

MetroAccess announced on Sunday evening that its service for people with disabilities will be suspended on Monday because of the impending weather.

The Storm is expected to exit midday Monday. The total amount of snow is expected to reach two t five inches in areas around the Capital Beltway. Lesser amounts are expected in the Potomac River and downtown D.C.

There is also a chance for showers on Tuesday and Wednesday while the temperatures will rebound to the 50s and lower 60s by the end of the week.
