Woman gathering to protests detentions in Mecca

The cities of Brideh and Mecca in Saudi Arabia are still the scene of protest activities to demand the release of detainees from Saudi jails.
According to Al-Alam News Network, number of Mecca women gathering for protests to demanded the release of Ms. Helia Al-Qassir. She has been in Saudi prison for 3 years now.

The Saudi women also condemned the silence of the scholars of Saudi about the assault on women in Saudi prisons.

In the city of Brideh, the Saudi youth in continued protests asserted for the release of detainees.

The Saudi youth were asking the people to raise and to revolt to help the detainees.

Because of the ban on any gathering or protest in Saudi Arabia, typically the protest activities are held with limited number of people and during the night.

Last month during the protest gathering of families of detainees, in front of the prosecutor’s office in Brideh, the Saudi security forces arrested 300 citizens.

Most of those detained were women and children. With the expansion of the protests, the Saudi authorities announced that some of the detainees have been released.

Saudi officials have refused any comments about the prisoners and detainees and their fate in the country. A senior security official in Saudi Arabia, after the incident admitted that there are over 2800 detainees in Saudi prisons.

However the Saudi regime human right committee, in the fall of 2011, announced that there were more than 4400 detainees in Saudi prisons.

This is while the human rights organizations refer to the existence of at least 30,000 detainees in Saudi prisons. But Saudi officials deny having any political prisoners in Saudi Jails.
