World demands Israeli leaders trial

As Muslims across the globe held rallies on Friday to support the Palestinian cause, a top Iranian lawmaker says people across the world demand the trial of Israeli leaders.

“On the International Quds Day, millions of people in Iran and across the world cried out for the liberation of Palestine and called for bringing leaders of the Zionist regime (Israel) to international trial,” ISNA quoted First Vice Speaker of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Mohammad Hassan Aboutorabi-Fard as saying on Sunday.

The Iranian official further pointed out that Israel is nearing its collapse in the wake of awareness of the Muslim world.

Aboutorabi-Fard also said as the world was condemning the brutal acts of occupiers in Palestinian land on the Quds Day, direct talks were held on Thursday between the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel in the White House in the absence of the real representatives of the Palestinian people.

Acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Washington on Thursday to resume direct negotiations 20 months after talks ran aground in the wake of Israel’s December 2008-January 2009 war against the Gaza Strip, which claimed the lives of at least 1,400 Palestinians.

Palestinians have mostly voiced opposition against the US-sponsored talks between the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority and Tel Aviv, saying the negotiations would only embolden the Israeli occupation.

“Today, resistance of the Muslim Lebanese nation, Hezbollah and the brave people in Gaza has brought the Zionist regime (Israel) to its knees,” the senior Iranian lawmaker went on to say.

Aboutorabi-Fard expressed hope that through resistance based on the faith of the Palestinian people, the Muslim world and Palestinians in particular would witness their victory and Israel’s defeat.
