World scholars urged to challenge Capitalism, Hollywoodism

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini urged Iranian and foriegn scholars and thinkers to challenge Hollywoodism and Capitalism in the West, particularly in the US, through artistic mediums, cinema in particular.

Speaking in the third International Conference on ‘Hollywoodism’, which started here Sunday morning, the minister criticized “heavy shadow of Hollywood’s policies on western artists.”

Addressing the Iranian and foreign participants, Hosseini said all artists should protect world’s oppressed and freedom-seeking nations through convergence and cooperation.

He stressed the need to challenge the dominance of Hollywood’s policies in western artistic community.

Referring to the ongoing ‘Ten-Day Dawn’ celebrations in Iran which commemorate the 34th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in the country, he said, “Iranians are to establish a democratic system based on religion and this is why, since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution they have always been targeted by West’s warmongering, conspiracies, threats and sanctions.”

Hosseini urged artists, specially those in movie business, “to disclose enemies’ plots for the world’s nations through cinema to portray realities.”

The minister reiterated that the Iranian nation “has never been seeking war or violence and has always supported peace, friendship and co-existence with followers of other religions.”

The third International Conference on Hollywoodism will continue till February 7.

The participating delegates are to discuss policies pursued by Hollywood in producing movies aimed at expanding Islamophobia and Iranophobia worldwide.
