At least four Saudi soldiers have been killed in a retaliatory rocket attack launched by Yemeni forces in the kingdom’s southwestern region.

The troops were killed as Yemeni forces, backed by fighters of the Houthi Ansarullah movement, fired Katyusha missiles at a base in Saudi Arabia’s Jizan region on Sunday.

Yemeni forces also destroyed a Saudi tank and several armed vehicles during a missile attack on a Saudi National Guard base in the region on Wednesday. The attacks are part of a drive by Houthis and allies to avenge more than 15 months of military aggression by Saudi Arabia against Yemen.

Earlier on Sunday, at least twelve people were killed and scores more wounded in Saudi Arabia’s latest airstrikes on Yemen’s capital Sana’a.

According to local reports, several women and children are among those killed in the attack which targeted a residential area in the city’s Nihm district.

Earlier, Saudi jets engaged in multiple attacks in the provinces of Sa’ada, Jawf, Hajjah, and Ta’izz.

About 10,000 people have been killed since the Saudi aggression began in late March 2015. Yemenis say most of the victims in the Saudi airstrikes are civilians. The attacks by Riyadh are meant to reinstate the resigned president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
