Yemen’s Houthis urge army to not get involved in battle in north

349195_SanaaThousands of Houthi protesters have rallied in the Yemeni capital to condemn the conflict between Houthi fighters and tribal forces of the Al-Hashid in northern Yemen.
The fighting which intensified on Friday has left over 70 fighters dead from both sides During the demonstration the Houthi protesters expressed concerns over the Yemeni army getting involved in the battle with a biased approach. The protest also reignited their calls for the downfall of the regime. They condemned the current government for failing to take action to restore security and stability across the nation. According to Al-Hashid tribesmen in Amran, the fighting first broke-out after Houthi fighters attempted to take control of the strongholds of their tribe; however, the Houthis reject these accusations and say they are merely on a peaceful mission to spread their ideology. As clashes continue for the third consecutive day in the country’s north, so does the Yemeni government’s silence and failure to bring both sides of the conflict to lay down their arms and engage in peaceful dialogue.
