Zahar voices support for Palestinian detainees from Mandela’s dungeon

Member of the Hamas Political Bureau Mahmoud al-Zahar on Saturday delivered a message to the Palestinian detainees held in Israeli jails while visiting the cell in which the South African anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela had been imprisoned.

Al-Zahar assured the Palestinian detainees that their freedom is near and that they will be the future rulers of Palestine, exactly as what Mandela did in South Africa following 27 years of imprisonment.

There are about 7,000 Palestinian prisoners languishing in Israeli jails, 84.8% of whom are West Bank residents, 9.5% are from Jerusalem and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories, and 5.7% are from the Gaza Strip.
