The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the harms caused by the wave of extremism to the stability and security of societies and countries in different parts of the world, and said that there is a need to “close cooperation of all countries to confront this ominous phenomenon”.

Zarif further pointed to the status quo in Iran-Bosnia relations, and said, “Iran has always had very strong and friendly ties with the people and government of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it has always been beside them and supported them.”

The Iranian foreign minister also referred to the two countries’ membership in international organization such as the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and said, “Exchange of views and constant consultation between the two countries’ officials is necessary for strengthening of constructive interactions in line with common interests, specially during Iran’s rotating presidency over the NAM.”

The Bosnian ambassador, for his part, briefed Zarif about his country’s foreign ties, and stressed the massive capacities of the two countries for expanding their bilateral relations.

Last month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani voiced Tehran’s full support for all international and regional efforts to combat the evil phenomena of extremism and terrorism.

Speaking prior to his departure for Afghanistan to take part Nowruz celebration, President Rouhani said that the region is suffering from extremism, terrorism and conflicts, underling that such meetings and settlement of problems are beneficial for the entire region.
