Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is on a visit to Indonesia to attend an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), said he will raise the issue of Israeli crimes against the oppressed people of Palestine at the meeting.

According to Tasnim news agency, speaking to reporters upon his arrival in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on Sunday, Zarif expressed his gratitude to the Southeast Asian country for hosing the OIC meeting, saying that a year after a request to hold the meeting on the issue of Palestine, it will be held finally by the efforts made by the Indonesian government.

“In the extraordinary meeting, the Islamic Republic of Iran… will declare its stances on the measures taken by Zionist regime (of Israel) and the dangers that it has posed against the Muslim world,” Zarif noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian top diplomat pointed to the bilateral relations between Tehran and Jakarta, saying that during his trip, he will also hold talks with Indonesian officials on ways to boost the ties in all spheres and promote cooperation in the OIC.

Zarif arrived in Jakarta on Sunday morning as the first destination of his tour of six countries, which will later take him to three other ASEAN and two Oceanian countries.

Zarif’s 11-day tour of Southeast Asia and Oceania is scheduled to go on with official visits to Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, New Zealand, and Australia.
