Zarif warns supporters of extremism in the region

IMG18312260Iran’s FM has said supporting extremism would not be to the interests of any country; “our neighbors would achieve nothing in supporting extremism.”
Mohammad Java Zarif who was speaking in a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari today evening, responded to a Mehr News question that with hostile measures against Iran’s diplomatic and consular centers in Lebanon, Iraq, Pakistan, and Yemen, whether Iran’s nuclear deal with Powers was related to these hostile measures in these countries.

“The group who has based its conduct in international relations on fostering crisis and tension, has been disturbed by recent developments in reaching understanding based on respecting Iran’s rights and removing sanctions,” told Zarif, adding that “the artificial crisis fostered by these groups in the region is now over; however, the Islamic Republic of Iran believes that it is for our as well as regional interests that prove that the Iranophobia propagated by the Zionist regime and other extremist groups in the region would be for the expense of peace and stability in the region.”

“ Naturally those who have defined their future in tension and sanction would not welcome such development, thus resorting to such overhasty acts indicative of losing equanimity, terrorist acts against Islamic Republic’s diplomatic centers in Pakistan and killing Iranian and others alike being among such acts,” Zarif asserted.

Zarif told that during terrorist attacks on Iran’s consulate in Peshawar, Pakistani civilians were killed; in Yemen, two of our diplomats were killed, and in Lebanon Iranians as well as Lebanese were killed. “The trend, unfortunately, is seen in the whole region; in Iraq, they kill innocent civilians, and all should work to prevent such acts,” Zarif invited neighbors to act.

“It is for Iran’s as well as the Islamic world interests to reflect a bright and different face of Islam to the world through fighting extremism,” Zarif told the press.

“We have always a harmonious view and cooperation with Iraqi friends on this, and we continue the cooperation, since we believe that extremism has targeted the stability of the whole region,” Zarif said.
