The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and National Defense Forces (NDF) are approaching zero hour for this long-awaited offensive in the Homs Governorate’s northern countryside, as the Russian Air Force and their own mortar shells continue to pound the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) at the cities of Al-Rastan and Talbiseh.

According to a military source in the Homs’s Governorate’s provincial capital, the Syrian Armed Forces have inched closer to the strategic rebel-held city of Talbiseh inside the Al-Rastan Plains after the powerful airstrikes from the Russian Air Force fractured the Islamist rebel defenses at the aforementioned opposition stronghold.

As previously stated in other articles, the Syrian Armed Forces will concentrate on the cities of Talbiseh, Al-Rastan, and ‘Umm Sharshooh in order to cutoff the Islamist rebels entrenched at the Al-Wa’er District inside the provincial capital of Homs; if Al-Wa’er is cutoff from all supply lines, the Jabhat Al-Nusra and Free Syrian Army militants inside this district will be in big trouble.

Another purpose of this wide-scale offensive is to connect the main highway leading from the Hama Governorate to the provincial capital of the Hama Governorate.

Leading the way for the Syrian Arab Army will be the 3rd Armored and 11th Tank Divisions that are currently entrenched around this rural area of the Homs Governorate.

With zero hour approaching for the Syrian Armed Forces’ offensive in northern Homs, the Russian airstrikes are likely to intensify in the coming days, as the pro-government forces get in position.
