Zionist israeli military is planning to demolish dozens of houses belonging to Palestinians in the West Bank.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported on Friday that the residences of several leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas are among the houses set to be razed.

The report added that the houses of the men released from Israeli jails in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011 might also be bulldozed.

The latest demolition plan is regarded as part of Tel Aviv’s crackdown on the Palestinian resistance movement.

On Wednesday, Israel destroyed the house of a Palestinian man identified as Ziad Awad in the West Bank village of Idna. Awad has been accused of murdering an off-duty policeman.

In February, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said Israel has demolished 390 Palestinian homes in the West Bank’s Jordan Valley in 2013, which resulted in the displacement of nearly 600 Palestinians. It noted that the numbers doubled in comparison with the year before.

Rights groups say the demolitions by the Israeli regime are aimed at grabbing more land for the construction of illegal settlements on Palestinian lands and launching military projects in the occupied territories.

Israel stepped up attacks on the Palestinians as part of a military search operation for three Israeli settlers it said had disappeared on June 12.

Reports said on June 30 that the bodies of the Israeli teenagers were found in a field near the village of Hilhul, north of the city of al-Khalil (Hebron), in the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli regime claims the Palestinian resistance movement of Hamas is responsible for the deaths. Hamas has rejected the allegation and said Israel is trying to sabotage the recent reconciliation accord reached between the movement and Fatah, which led to the formation of the Palestinian national unity government.
