‘Zionist Regime is Washington’s military outpost’

Phil Wilayto, editor of Virginia Defender Newspaper said in a phone interview with Press TV on Sunday, “Israeli regime is far more than a US ally in the Middle East and the region as a whole. It is a junior partner. It is a military outpost. It is an entity that does the US bidding in the area.”
Following last week’s talks in Vienna between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – Britain, China, France, Russia, and the US – plus Germany for a final agreement over Iran’s nuclear energy program, Washington’s top negotiator in the talks, Wendy Sherman, travelled to Tel Aviv to brief Israeli authorities.
The Zionist newspaper Haaretz also reported on Thursday that even before last week’s negotiations, Israel’s Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz had spoken to Sherman about the talks with Iran.
Sherman told reporters on Saturday that even though the US does not agree with the Zionist regime on all occasions, “it’s important for us to get input and ideas from Israeli regime.”
However, Wilayto says “Israel does not tell the United States what to do even though there is a very large lobbying effort, I believe it’s the largest in Washington, and Tel Aviv, through its lobbying group AIPAC, contributes more money to US congress than any other lobbying group.”
