Sheikh Khalid Abdul Wahhab al-Mala’, head of the Sunni scholars’ council of Iraq, in an interview televised on Al Mayadin channel congratulated world Christians on arrival of Christmas and birth anniversary of Jesus Christ (PBUH) saying Takfiri groups who relate themselves with Muslims and Christians are only in pursuit of dividing different religions, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He said,” When Christmas ceremonies are held across the globe in full security, there comes the hope for full annihilation of terrorism in the world.”

The cleric stressed the heavy burden of leading people for scholars and said,” Muslim and Christian clerics should follow the lifestyle of prophets and send the message of peace, friendship, coexistence, respect and security to the people.”

Iraqi Sunni cleric criticized terrorists for tarnishing the image of Islam and stressed,” Islam is the religion of blessing and kindness while terrorist movements are undermining the reputation of the holy religion through their heinous crimes trying to uproot true Islam in different countries” and added,” Christians should know that Islam is quite different from what these terrorists are showing to the world.”

Sheikh Khalid al Mala’ noted,” Daesh has mercy on followers of no religion or denomination and members of this terrorist group have killed many Christians in Aleppo, Mosul and different European countries.”

He called the Zionist regime of Israel and arrogant powers as the major supporters of terrorism and said,” Enemies of Islam have struggled to sow the seeds of division and hypocrisy in the Islamic countries though they were challenged by the resistance in the region.”

Head of the council of Sunni scholars hailed the perseverance of resistance movement in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Palestine saying,” Had it not been for the resistance forces, regional countries would have been trampled by Zionist and arrogant forces.”

He called the liberation of Aleppo as a heavy blow to Daesh and said,” Battle with Daesh is not merely a military campaign rather a full struggle for annihilation of terrorism.”

Sheikh Khalid al Mala’ slammed any effort to divide Shia and Sunni Muslims in Iraq and said,” He who tries to disperse followers of these denominations, under any name, will soon be defaced in public.”
