zionist soldiers kill Palestinian in north Gaza

Israeli soldiers have shot dead a Palestinian man and injured another in the northern Gaza Strip city of Beit Lahia, Press TV reports.

The incident occurred on Friday when a group of young men were present near the so-called buffer zone, close to the Jabalia refugee camp.

A 20-year-old was shot in the chest and died upon arrival at the hospital. Another Palestinian youth was also shot in the leg.

Israel has damaged a large portion of Palestinian farmland to make way for the buffer zone which it established along the border with the Gaza Strip in 2008 for alleged security reasons.

The zone officially extends 300 meters into Gaza territory, but reports indicate that the Israeli regime is in effect forcing a much larger no-go zone.

Israeli troops target Palestinian civilians, including children wandering close to the border fence, farmers and scrap metal collectors trying to make ends meet.

On Friday, for instance, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian fishing boats in the Mediterranean.

Israeli troops target fishermen on a regular basis as part of a naval blockade on the Gaza Strip that prohibits fishing boats from sailing beyond six nautical miles from the coastline.

Israel has in effect deprived about 1.7 million people in Gaza of their basic rights, such as freedom of movement, jobs that pay proper wages, and adequate healthcare and education.
