Syria in Last 24 Hours: Army Makes New Gains in Damascus
The army units pushed the al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) away from more positions in Southwestern Damascus.
The Syrian troops killed tens of terrorists and injured dozens more in fierce clashes over controlling of strategic regions. They also destroyed military equipment of the terrorists.
The Syrian army also continued its advances in other key provinces across Syria.
Damascus
The Syrian army launched another offensive against the al-Nusra Front in Southwestern Damascus, and could impose control over a key region.
The army forces engaged in heavy clashes with al-Nusra terrorists in Jabal al-Sheikh and al-Zyat regions as well as al-Bardaiyeh hill in Southwestern Damascus on Thursday, winning back control over the strategic hill.
They also fiercely clashed with the terrorists in al-Zahr al-Aswad front near Beit Jin farms in Western Damascus, killing several terrorists.
Meantime, army helicopters pounded the al-Nusra positions in Beit Jin farms and Beit Jin region in Southwestern Damascus.
Homs
Government troops in Central Syria captured a strategic point during the military operations near the town of al-Quaryatayn in Southwestern Homs.
The army units earned control of the last strategic hill in Jabil mountain, overlooking al-Quaryatayn South-West of Homs province after clashes with the ISIL on Thursday.
During the operations, the army troops killed a number of ISIL terrorists and seized a large number of weapons and equipment.
Meantime, the Syrian fighter jets launched airstrikes on ISIL positions near the town, inflicting considerable casualties on the terrorists.
Deir Ezzur
The Syrian army troops extended the range of their advances in ISIL stronghold city of al-Mayadeen in Southeastern Deir Ezzur, regaining control over several districts.
The army forces continued to march on terrorists’ positions in the town of al-Mayadeen on Thursday, and captured the al-Ba’loum district and al-Ba’loum square in the Western parts of the town.
They also advanced from their positions in the automatic furnace region, retaking control of al-Balout district and half of al-Sana’ah district.
Meantime, other army units won control of the power company, al-Madiheh and al-Tayyebeh districts and al-Tayyebeh school at the Southern entrance of the city from the ISIL terrorists.
Hama
The Syrian Army soldiers ambushed a military column of ISIL in Northern Hama, inflicting major losses on the terrorists.
The army men carried out an ambush operation against a military column of ISIL terrorists after they tried to go through Wadi al-Azib region towards areas under the control of Al-Nusra Front (Tahrir al-Sham Hay’at or the Levant Liberation Board) in Northern Hama.
Six military vehicles were destroyed and at least fifteen terrorists were killed in the operation.
