Syrian Army One Step Closer to Al-Nusra’s Strategic Bastion in Southwestern Damascus

The source said that the army men that captured the hills of al-Baydha and al-Maqtoul al-Gharbi on Friday are now only one kilometer away from Beit Jinn Farm, the Al-Nusra’s main stronghold in Southwestern Damascus.

The source further said that the army’s artillery and missile units pounded again Al-Nusra’s positions Northeast of the small town of Beit Jinn, killing and wounding a number of militants and destroying their equipment.

The source added that the army men have now tightened siege on Beit Jinn Farm from the North-East.

The source went on to say that the army’s recent advance has opened a new front that is  expanded in a region from Beit Jinn-Hineh road up to the Southeastern outskirts of the village of Mughur al-Mir.

The army men, led by their elite 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division, stormed Al-Nusra’s defense lines at the large hilltop of Tal al-Ahmar on Friday morning.

According to a military report, the army’s 42nd Brigade imposed full control over Tal al-Ahmar after losing the hilltop two days ago during an Al-Nusra’s attack.

With Tal Al-Ahmar once again under their control, the army asserted fire control over the road linking the towns of Beit Saber and Mughur al-Mir.
