Senior Diplomat: Iran prevents spread of Syria crisis

Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi has stressed the Islamic Republic’s role in preventing Syria crisis from spilling over to the neighboring countries including Lebanon.

According to Press TV, in a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Saturday, Roknabadi reiterated Tehran’s support for the stability and national unity in Lebanon.
The Iranian ambassador said considering the situation on the ground in Syria, disappointment of the country’s enemies due to the failure of their plots against Damascus, and the readiness of the Arab nation’s real opposition for talks with the government has raised hopes for the resolution of the crisis.
The Lebanese president, for his part, praised Iran’s attempts to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria in a peaceful manner and its support for the national unity of the Lebanese nation.
Pointing to the recent measures taken in Lebanon to prevent security problems and sectarian strife, Suleiman said the vigilance and prudence of Lebanese leaders and political groups ensures stability in the country.
