Breaking: Syrian Army seizes strategic area in southwest Aleppo

Minutes ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), alongside the National Defense Forces (NDF), seized an important area inside the southwestern sector of Aleppo City after a fierce battle with the jihadist rebels Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham.

Led by their Republican Guard forces, the Syrian Arab Army stormed the Souq Al-Jabes area of southwestern Aleppo today, striking the jihadist defenses from their positions at the 1070 Housing Complex.

According to local journalists in western Aleppo, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies imposed full control over Souq Al-Jabes after Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham militants withdrew from the area on Wednesday afternoon.

The capture of Souq Al-Jabes today by the Syrian Arab Army marks the first time since September 2016 that the government has been in control of this strategic area in southwestern Aleppo.
