Shia and Sunni people respect each other in Indonesia

Speaking in an exclusive interview with TNA reporter on the sideline of the conference held for Head of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Al Walid underlined that Shia and Sunni people live in an amicable condition in Indonesia. “They are really close to each other,” underscored the Islamic elite.

He pointed to the recent showdown between Shia and Sunni people in the country and said, “some Takfiri groups recently started spreading negative propaganda against Muslims especially Shia people in Indonesia.”

Al Walid mentioned that those extremist groups tried to project Shia people as blasphemous groups and through such malignant way, they could influence few of Sunni people in Indonesia.

“As a result of such negative propaganda, a few of people attacked Shias and injured them,” said the Indonesian lecturer.

He spotlighted despite of this case, and the negative propaganda; “Shia and Sunni people like and respect each other,” he said stating that they live with each other without any showdown and problem.

In other part of his speech, Al Walid appreciated the role of Head of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Muhammad Ali Taskhiri in increasing unity and rapprochement among Muslims.

It is worth to noting that the ceremony held for honoring Head of the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri on Saturday Jan 26, in the presence of senior officials of Islamic Republic of Iran and also religious scholars and elites from other in and outside of the country.

Chairman of Iran’s Parliament, Ali Larijani, Hujjat-ol-Islam Ali Akbar Rashad, senior religious figure at Tehran Seminary and Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki as well as prominent international figures attended in the ceremony and delivered speech.

Prominent Iranian cleric, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri has served as the Secretary General of Ahlul Bayt (AS) World Assembly, Representative of Iran in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
