‘Global opposition to war on Syria rising’

A senior Iranian lawmaker says worldwide opposition to a US military strike on Syria is gaining momentum.

Alaeddin Boroujerdi said in today’s developments, there is a positive approach in favor of Syria in the world. Britain, Italy, Germany and Canada have implicitly opposed war, and even the Pope asked all Christians to observe a day of fasting for peace in Syria … which all indicate that the global attitude is not in favor of the US.”
The chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee made the remarks upon arrival in Tehran from a visit to Syria and the neighboring Lebanon on Wednesday.
He went on to say that the anti-Zionist resistance front remains determined about its decisions and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is in high spirits despite all propaganda against him.

The Iranian lawmaker pointed out: “The atmosphere in the region is very hectic and if a war breaks out its extent will not be in the US or the Zionist regime’s control.”

The call for military action against Syria intensified after foreign-backed opposition forces accused the government of President Bashar al-Assad of launching a chemical attack on militant strongholds in the suburbs of Damascus on August 21.
Damascus has vehemently denied the accusations, saying the chemical attack was carried out by the militants themselves as a false-flag operation.
