Saudi Arabia’s army has confirmed that an army commander has been killed in the southern part of the country near the border with Yemen.

The army announced on Sunday that Brigadier General Ibrahim Hamzi, the deputy commander of the 8th brigade in southwestern province of Jizan, was killed in conflict with Yemeni forces fighting against Saudi aggression of their country.

On March 26, Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen – without a United Nations mandate – in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to the fugitive former Yemeni president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

According to a report released on September 19 by Yemen’s Civil Coalition, over 6,000 Yemenis have so far lost their lives in the Saudi airstrikes, and a total of nearly 14,000 people have been injured.
