Syrian Army captures new areas in East Ghouta
The Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard, backed by the National Defense Forces (NDF), seized another town in the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus on Thursday, paving the way for their imperative advance to the rebel stronghold of Tal Kurdi.
The 105th Brigade and their allies reportedly captured Tal Sawwan on Thursday after seizing its nearby hilltop from the Jaysh Al-Islam (Army of Islam) militants.
With the capture of Tal Sawwan, the Syrian Armed Forces are now at the outskirts of Tal Kurdi, which is considered a Jaysh Al-Islam stronghold because of its proximity to Douma and ‘Adra.
According to an Al-Masdar correspondent in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army killed at least ten Islamist rebels, while suffering no casualties of their own during the short battle for Tal Sawwan on Thursday.
