3 Terrorists Killed, 5 Arrested in Southeastern Iran

The Iranian Law Enforcement Police and intelligence forces in a joint operation killed 3 terrorists and arrested 5 others in the Southeastern city of Chabahar in Sistan and Balouchestan province.

The terrorists were members of Ansar al-Forqan terrorist group who intended to carry out operations against the Iranian people in the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

During the conflicts with the terrorists on Wednesday afternoon, one of the Iranian intelligence forces was martyred and another one was wounded.

The security forces seized 7 suicide vests and a large amount of ammunition from the terrorists.

The development came one week after three male assailants fired several rounds at the guards protecting the parliament building in Tehran on June 7. The assailants opened their way into the parliament’s administrative building while shooting at the guards.

A similar attack took place at the holy shrine of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, parallel with the parliament attack.

17 people, including the parliament’s guards, were killed and 52 others were wounded in the twin attacks claimed by the ISIL.

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari announced that the June 7 terrorist attacks in Tehran were carried out at the demand of Riyadh.

“We have precise intelligence showing that unfortunately, Saudi Arabia has supported the terrorists and demanded them to conduct operations in Iran,” General Jafari said on Monday.

He also revealed that the terrorist groups in the region are also supported by the US and Israel.
