Scores of jailed Palestinians launch hunger strike

At least 120 Palestinian prisoners held by Terrorist Israel Regime have launched a hunger strike against their forced removal from one section to another inside a notorious jail.

The prisoners launched their hunger strike on Wednesday after Israeli prison officials moved them to the Nafha jail in the Negev desert located in southern Israel.

Most of the inmates were political prisoners and had links with the Fatah political party which rules the occupied West Bank.

They were moved from Section 10 of the jail to Section 41 last week without being allowed to take any of their belongings with them, the rights group, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Center for Studies, said in a statement on Thursday.

Palestinian detainees in various Israeli prisons threatened a campaign of protests after the Israeli Prison Service said it planned to separate inmates affiliated to the Hamas resistance group in Nafha prison from those affiliated to Fatah, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Center for Studies said.

Last week, prisoners in the Israeli Nafha, Ramon, Eshel and Ofer jails declared a campaign of protests against a spate of cell raids and physical assaults by the Israeli prison authorities.

Palestinian prisoners in Terrorist Israeli jails are increasingly resorting to hunger strikes to protest both their indefinite detentions with no charges, aka administrative detention, and the denial of their right to a legal trial.

Last week, Terrorist Israel’s regime (Knesset) ratified a law which allowed the force-feeding of Palestinian prisoners who are on hunger strike in Israeli jails.

The law garnered harsh criticism from rights groups that slammed the legislation as a form of torture to silence the Palestinian protesters.

Israel’s so-called administrative detention is a sort of imprisonment without trial or charge that allows Tel Aviv to imprison Palestinians for up to six months. The detention order can be renewed for indefinite periods of time.

According to reports, over 7,000 Palestinians are incarcerated in 17 Israeli prisons and detention camps, 540 of whom are held under administrative detention.
