zionist israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticized the UN rights body for a string of resolutions condemning Tel Aviv over its conduct toward the Palestinians.

Netanyahu said it is absurd that the UN Human Rights Council slammed Israel while human rights are being violated elsewhere in the Middle East.

“It’s absurd. This procession of hypocrisy goes on and we shall continue to denounce and expose it,” he said on Saturday.

At the closure of the Human Rights Council’s 25th session in the Swiss city of Geneva on Friday, the council reaffirmed that the Israeli settlements in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) are illegal and an obstacle to peace, and called on Tel Aviv to immediately cease all of its settlement activities.

The 47-member UN body passed four resolutions critical of Israel’s conduct toward the Palestinians and one on its occupation of the Golan Heights.

The resolutions on the Palestinians were passed by 46 votes to one, with only the United States against, while the Golan resolution garnered 13 abstentions and a US “no” vote.

The vote has been welcomed by the Palestinian Authority.

“The resolutions reaffirm the primacy of human rights of the Palestinian people and the obligations of all States to promote and protect human rights,” Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Malki said in Friday statement.

“This vote confirms the world’s clear condemnation of the systematic human rights violations committed by Israel, the occupying power, against the Palestinian people and their fundamental rights,” he added.s

The UN and most countries regard the Israeli settlements as illegal because the territories were captured by Israel in a war in 1967 and are hence subject to the Geneva Conventions, which forbid construction on occupied lands.
