Islamic Iran develops helicopter parts despite sanctions

Col. Pil. Yousef Ghorbani, who was speaking to a group of reporters visiting the Air Base, pointed to severe sanctions mounted on the country after the revolution. “Sanctions in aerospace industry was even more severe, but with the Supreme Leader’s good measures, developing parts was launched in helicopter industries, and now we are in a position that we can make whole helicopter,” he added.

On the production of simulators, Ghorbani said that in the past Iran had had to send its human force to be trained to Russia, but “now these simulators are manufactured inside the country.”

He also pointed to a number of helicopters, which due to sanctions, were grounded, “during recent months, we have been able to overhaul and build 6 helicopters’ parts.”

“These helicopters have returned to the operational cycle, including Cobra and Ranger jets,” he asserted.
