Iran Asks for Global Condemnation of Terrorists’ Use of Chemical Arms in Syria

syrian-free-army-fighters.siIran once again deplored the recent use of chemical weapons by terrorist groups in Syria, and called on the world states to condemn the criminal act and take proper measures to prevent similar crimes in the future.

On Tuesday, terrorists fired a rocket containing chemical substances in the Khan al-Assal area of rural Aleppo and reports indicate that around 25 people were killed, most of them civilians.

In a statement on Friday, Iran’s embassy in The Hague urged an “impartial and technical” investigation into the issue.

All countries should condemn the anti-humane crime and fulfill their responsibility to prevent the use of chemical weapons in the future, the statement said.

“The deployment of chemical weapons is a painful event and as the biggest victim of the use of such weapons at the current era, the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the use of chemical weapons by armed groups and reminds relevant countries about their responsibility,” the Iranian embassy underscored.

On Wednesday, Syria has asked for an independent investigation into the use of chemical weapons by militants in Aleppo.

Later, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the decision for conducting an independent investigation into the terrorist chemical attack.

“I have decided to conduct a United Nations investigation into the possible use of chemical weapons in Syria,” Ban told reporters in his office on Thursday, adding that “I intend for this investigation to start as soon as practically possible.”

The chemical attack came after a video footage posted on the internet late in January showed that the armed militants in Syria possessed canisters containing chemical substances.

The foreign-sponsored militants had earlier released footage in which rabbits were killed by inhaling poisonous gas.
