South African deputy foreign minister arrives in Gaza

Ibrahim Ibrahim, the deputy foreign minister of South Africa, has arrived in Gaza Strip on Saturday via the Rafah crossing at the head of a seven-member delegation.

He was received on arrival by Dr. Ahmed Yousef, the foreign undersecretary, along with other officials and two diplomats from the South African embassy in Gaza.

He addressed a press conference at the Rafah border terminal on arrival.

Palestinian premier Ismail Haneyya and first deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council Dr. Ahmed Bahar received a visiting parliamentary delegation from South Africa last Monday.

Ibrahim performed a long meeting with Hamas leader-Minister of foreign affairs Dr. Mahmoud az-Zahar in Gaza city, discussing many issues related to Palestinian’s future.

This official visit, comes as international effort for supporting the Palestinian people, against the unjust Israeli siege imposed by occupation and its allies in the region.
