Foreign observers to witness Iran drills
A group of foreign observers have arrived in Iran at the invitation of the Defense Ministry to witness a military exercise underway in the southern waters of Iran.
Observers from Iraq, Qatar and Oman, who arrived in Iran on Sunday, entered the southern port city of Bandar-Abbas on Monday morning to witness the final stage of the war games codenamed Velayat 89, the Defense Ministry announced on Monday.
This is the first time that a military delegation from Iraq observes a military exercise in Iran.
The fourth stage of the maneuvers began on Monday with the launching of surface-to-surface and surface-to-sea missiles and is set to last for two days.
During the final phases of the drill on Wednesday, Iranian Navy warships and warplanes will hold a parade in the Sea of Oman.
